Where there's a story of a ghost, you'll usually find me not far behind that's why when Andy and I drove past Wonnerup House for the umpteenth time, we finally decided to pull in and check out the ghost stories.
Wonnerup House was one of the original homesteads in the Busselton region and according to the lady at National Trust there are 4 ghosts that call it home. There's Jim, who can be felt leaving and returning to his room in the original homestead and there are the 3 sisters that still reside in the later built home.
This is the 'creepy children's room' of the later build homestead where the ghost of the 3 sisters reside. Yes, I did doctor the photo a bit, but it was creepy anyway because of the really creepy, creepy old dolls.
This the building the 3 sisters still call 'home'. One of the caretakers use to always find a door unlatched in the morning after she had latched everything the night the before. When she finally acknowledged that the ladies were most the likely the culprits, the mischief stopped.
While I was there, I had the impression of 3 women dressed in white period dress walking down the verandah behind me and I instantly got tingles on my head.
This is Jim's room in the original homestead. It's said that when the room is opened up in the morning, you can feel the presence of Jim leave for the day and then at closing time, he comes back. And it's always polite to acknowledge him with a goodmoring and goodnight.
The living room of the second homestead. Creaky floorboards, dust, cobwebs, old creepy furniture and the odd cold breeze made this place feel ripe for investigating. Would you stay a night here?
